Pumpkin Destruction

Now that Halloween has ended it is time to get rid of the pumpkins. We all had a good time taking care of that. This was Garretts first time to get to pull the trigger.

Halloween!

Such fun. Our Crocodile and Black Cat had a great time at Hallelujah Night in Fredericksburg. We even met up with our little cousin, Tigger. Then while the kitty slept, the Crocodile and his daddy went trick-or-treating. Of course Garrett had to sing the whole trick or treat song for each door he went to.

Pumpkin Patch

Garrett went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch in Medina today. It's a much different experience with 19 preschoolers. The weather was wonderful, very fall like. Unfortunately, I think we will probably end up getting turkeys. Garrett just loved them.

Pumpkin Carving

I am always amazed at how long it takes to carve pumpkins. Surprisingly the time does not come from the actual carving part - rather the cleaning and decision making. I was hoping that this year Garrett would be more involved in the removal of the "guts" but I was wrong. He put his hands in a few times, then decided he would rather play monster trucks and tell me how to do it. I didn't get much help from the big boy either. But the pumpkins are carved with happy faces as requested. In all fairness I should report that the girl wasn't much help either. Now.. I need to get to work on those pumpkin seeds.

Not so Happy Birthday Boy

Well, I seriously thought it was the rain that would ruin the day. That is until about 9am yesterday when I got seriously sick at work (in Blanco of course). So sick my sister had to drive me home because I'm pretty sure I passed out. And even though I kept away from Garrett, sure enough, Sunday morning he woke up and threw up his breakfast. We held out hope that it was just him being excited about his party and upset about the rain, but that was just wishful thinking. So my poor baby spent the day laying on the couch watching Noggin. We did cut a piece of cake and put his candle on it this evening, but as soon as he blew out the candle, he threw up again. I think he is going to have his mother's luck with birthdays.

Meet Trevor

Garrett has been asking for a hamster for most of the summer. Bill and I finally decided to give in and make that his birthday present. We decided on a gerbil instead of a hamster. The poor guy in the store had a heck of a time getting "Trevor" out of the cage. But look how proud Garrett is of his pet.

Macie's Bumbo Seat

I finally got Macie a Bumbo seat! She loves it. She likes to sit with her toys.

Sunday, Sunday

I managed to get home early enough for Garrett and I to spend a little time outside together. He is turning into such a brave boy! The arena really helped. And can you belive how nice it is outside today?!?

Happy 4th of July!

We made it through a long hot day. It started with going into Fredericksburg this morning and ended with firecrackers at the Double D. Garrett actually watched them without wearing daddy's silencer muffs. Macie loved being outside at night and flirted with the very full moon (a nice change from being "meltdown Maggie" all day). Garrett in true Peter Pan form tried to catch his shadow during the last bit of dusk, it was just too funny. He also told us that we should play the "football song" (Star Spangled Banner) because of all the flags. Love it.

Growing together

They are really starting to seem like brother and sister. She just glows and smiles when he is around. She listens for him and will turn to where he is. He loves to hold her and often reassures her when she cries. We are so lucky.

Welcome Peace

Garrett has a new best friend. Peace has joined our household and she has been a wonderful addition. Even Lucy likes her.

Funny Little Girl

Macie and I were hanging out on the couch today when she started making the cutest faces. Luckily I had my camera out and was able to catch the action!

Big Brother

Garrett is getting better and better at being a big brother. He helps Mommy get things for baby Macie, and if she cries he is the first one in there to hold her hand and tell her its okay. Garrett even helped feed Macie.

But all that work can really wear you out and sometimes its nice to just nap with an old friend.

Two Weeks

We have made it two weeks. Macie has settled happily into being quite a little princess. Poor Garrett is still having a hard time adjusting. On one hand he really wants to play with her and on the other hand he hates sharing the limelight.

Macie Marie Long

I know. It has taken me forever to get pictures posted. She was born April 13th at 7:24 am. She was 20 inches long and 7lbs 12ozs. (of course she is down to 7lbs 3ozs) We are all home now and doing well. Garrett is starting to adjust to being a big brother and we are hoping to get sleep in the near future.

Easter Bunny

We braved the cold to go to the Easter Egg hunt in Fredericksburg. Garrett did pretty well considering how many big kids there were. He was very excited and declared himself the winner. We thought it sounded good too. He even went right up to the Easter Bunny!

Exhausting Weekend

After a long weekend of working digging post holes and installing fence to enlarge my backyard with Dad and Dad-dad. Then celebrating Dad-dad's birthday I finally got a little down time. Sorry mommie.......... PS. The food was really good... honest. Love Garrett

Finger Paint!

Today we decided to make some fingerpaint and spend some time outside! Garrett really loved painting..... and not just on the paper. I think he had just as much fun getting hosed off by Daddy.
